Twelve phonolite pinnacles pierce the clouds above the island. When the skies clear, Mount Oave suddenly comes into view, revealing a landscape that ranks among the most spectacular in the Marquesas. The island is also renowned for its artisans, sculptors and musical traditions. It is home to an extraordinary geological treasure: the famous flower stones, whose crystals form petal-like patterns. According to local sources, this rare rock is found only in Ua Pou and Brazil.
